Initiating Buprenorphine in the ED

This module focuses on how to provide buprenorphine inductions within the Emergency Department (ED) and then provide a warm hand off to treatment/recovery services within the community. This module was made possible by the generous support and funding from MaineCare.

This module is self-paced and available to any user that registers with the MMA-CQI Learning Lab. The estimated time to complete is approximately 1 hour. Eligible physicians or physician assistants that complete this module will be able to claim 1 AMA PRA Category 1 Continuing Medical Education (CME) Credit, which can be used towards fulfilling the opioid education requirements implemented under Public Law Chapter 488.

The module will identify strategies, best practices and resources for each unit, using various elements, which may include hyperlinks to readings and web resources, video lessons, and case studies.
